never mess with mothers!

what is magnificence in the story? how did you feel after the discussion?
magnificence in that story for me means the mother being the bomb. you know what i mean? she turned from regular mom to ultimate superhero just because her daughter was threatened. she was silent, but deadly. imagine having to keep you head cool in a situation like that. she didn't make a fuss but she showed her power over this little piece of trash who was jacking off to her 7 year old. if you ask me, i would be more scared of someone who was silent than someone who'd be screaming her head off. i learned that from my mom. it's because you have no idea what's going through their heads.
after the discussion, i figured that the guy has been 'molesting' the little girl since before because of the gifts. you know how pedophiles are. i forgot to mention this in class, but after molesting a kid, pedophiles give them gifts to make them not guilty about what they did. like it's a fair trade or something. then it makes me look at my mom in whole new light because she's just as awesome as that.

cite instances where a person showed strength of character.
i honestly cannot state something from an international or even national scale because i don't know anybody who went on TV with a stiff jaw and silent manner after a 'tragedy' who is not a sociopath. i'd probably say that woman from the US whose kids got kidnapped; she was so together when they interviewed her. turns out she killed her kids herself. it's a human thing. we freak out over the littlest things. but i suppose i'd say my mom. she's the strongest person i know. imagine having to deal with me for 20something years, i'd go crazy myself, but she's there, all cool and all. when she's mad, she stays quiet like a snake. she won;t strike at you, but you know something's up. silent treatment all the way. that's what's so scary. she just gives you this look and bam! you admit to things that you promised to wouldn't. she works so well under pressure and never cracks, and her patience is unbelievable. she's into looking for the truth, and will do what it takes to get at it. she notices the smallest inconsistencies in stories, which is why i swear she'd make a good lawyer. during tragedies, she keeps her head. she got into car accidents a couple of times, and get this. she was the one who got hit right? it wasn't her fault. and she had a neck injury to boot, but she still had her wits about her to ask the other driver for contact details and insurance and all that crap. the other driver was just looking at her all dazed and shit. and my mom isn't exactly young. i suppose all that pressure training from med school kicked in. :)) yeah, she's magnificent all right...
